It was a typical work weekend when nurse ratios typically change. I was caring for five patients, discharged one and quickly was given my next ER admission. We do not get report from the ER, so the little time I had to research my patient, I saw she would be admitted with COPD exacerbation. This was a pretty typical admission, but what stuck out to me was the fact that she had been diagnosed with end stage mets disease….
