As I gathered my things together and printed out more copies of my report sheet, I realized that I would be getting a relatively new delivery that had just come over to the unit at 5 that morning. I headed over to the night shift nurse, Genna, and began to receive report. She had just recently (within the past hour) assessed the infant and mother and had helped the patient to the restroom and changed her pad and ice pack. The patient was Spanish-speaking and spoke little to no English. As I was getting report, the patient put on her call light. The PCA, Vicky, went in the room so I could finish getting report.
